Wildflower Trail Run Overview

Experience one of the most iconic spring trail races in Texas at Bastrop State Park, where miles of singletrack wind through towering pines and vibrant wildflower blooms. Located between Austin and Houston, Wildflower has been a staple on the Texas trail calendar since 2016.

Held over two days, the event features a wide range of standard and unique race distances, making it a true weekend experience for runners of all levels. The course showcases a beautiful Texas Hill Country trail system with sections of pine forest, sand, rock, rolling climbs, and fun descents. Along the way, runners will experience both the fire-struck landscape from 2011 and the ongoing rebirth of the Lost Pines.

The 2026 event introduces a new start/finish staging area along with updated distances and routes. New additions include a family-friendly 1-mile walk, kids run, the 50/50 Challenge (complete a 50K on both days), and Double 5’s (race both a 5-mile and 5K across the weekend) with options for both running and rucking divisions.

Typically hosted on Mother’s Day weekend, Wildflower has become a meaningful tradition for many. Special Mother’s Day medals celebrate those racing on Sunday, and runners who take on both days can earn the Texas Two Step back-to-back medal.

Saturday evening brings the community together along the Colorado River with a social gathering featuring live music—an opportunity to relax and connect before the next day of racing.

Trail Racing Over Texas events are built around a high-quality, community-first experience. Expect clearly marked courses, well-stocked aid stations, and a strong commitment to sustainability. All TROT events are cupless—runners are required to bring their own hydration device—and shirts and medals are produced through recycled and zero-waste programs. TROT is also proud to support Texas Search and Rescue.
